Makati may be considered as the top city among the twelve cities that are included in the Greater Manila area. It has ample positive features that brighten up the city and little to no major drawbacks that hardly pull it down from the top. It is the country's center of commerce and by far is the most recommended place to live in both for locals and foreigners alike.
A primary reason that makes the city stand out is that, although it is not geographically found in the center of Metro Manila, it offers transportation that makes travelling to other cities in the country much more accessible. Those who rent a Makati apartment can easily go to Quezon City, Caloocan and Valenzuela by|by way of the LRT or Light Rail Transit. For people who will travel to Ortigas, Cubao or Mandaluyong, the MRT or Metro Rail Transit is the best means of transportation.
In addition to this, Makati City is also connected to rural areas through the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) and Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).
Also, people who rent a Makati apartment or condo can be considered fortunate due to shopping centers and other establishments and businesses are located nearby. For shopping purposes, there is Greenbelt and Gloriatta found in Ayala that offers both a lively and relaxing atmosphere. For health and body care, the Makati Medical Center is available. Lastly, for some night life, there are a number of pubs and bars located along Makati Ave and in the numerous hotels all over Makati.
However, as mentioned earlier, Makati City also has some negatives. Since it is the Philippine's business hub, traffic jams are very common in the city.
Still, despite the drawback shown, the numerous good characteristics of the city is sufficient enough to keep it as the top city within the metro.
